Hermon Church <br />Road, across US Highway 70 to Pleasant Green <br />Road to reach Eno River State Park. <br />On May 28, 1991, the New Hope Creek Corridor Open <br />Space Master Plan was presented at public hearing. Tn <br />August, the County Commissioners directed the Planning <br />Staff to propose appropriate amendments to the <br />Comprehensive Plan and the Joint Planning Area Land <br />Use Plan to include the New Hope Corridor Plan. <br />On October 10, 1991, the proposed amendments were <br />presented for citizen comment at the Joint Planning <br />Area public hearing. Most of the citizens who spoke at <br />the hearing stressed the need for protection of the <br />headwaters of New Hope Creek, especially from the <br />potential of a future landfill in the vicinity. An <br />attorney spoke on behalf of some land owners in Durham <br />who felt that the cost of land acquisition along the <br />creek should be shared equally among the four <br />jurisdictions. <br />Following the public hearing, the proposed amendment <br />to the Joint Planning Area Land Use Plan and Map were <br />referred to the Towns of Chapel Hill nd Carrboro for <br />recommendation. On November 25, the Chapel Hill Town <br />Council adopted the New Hope Corridor Open Space <br />Master Plan as part of the Town's Comprehensive Plan <br />and recommended that the County adopt the proposed <br />amendment to the JPA Land Use Plan. <br />Similarly, on December 10, 1991, the Carrboro Board of <br />Aldermen recommended by the attached Resolution that <br />the County adopt the amendment to the JPA Land Use <br />Plan as presented at the public hearing on October 10, <br />1991. <br />The Planning Board recommended approval of the <br />amendments on January 14, 1992. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: For JPA -2 -91, proposed amendments to the Joint <br />Planning Area Land Use Plan and Map, the <br />recommendation is as follows: <br />The Orange County Administration recommends <br />approval of the proposed amendments. <br />The Chapel Hill Town Council recommends approval of <br />the proposed amendments as per the attached <br />Resolution; and <br />The Town of Carrboro Board of Aldermen recommends <br />approval of the proposed amendments as per the <br />
