- . -. <br />6.7.5 Failure to notify the supervisor of absence or <br />improper use of Sick Leave may result in loss of <br />pay and /or disciplinary action. <br />6.7.6 Sick leave is taken in increments of one -half <br />hour (30 minutes). <br />6.7.7 A holiday is not charged as Sick Leave when it <br />occurs during the period the employee is on Sick <br />Leave. <br />6.8 Responsibility <br />6.8.1 The department head is responsible for <br />maintaining accurate Sick Leave records, <br />including the verification of the Orange County <br />"Leave Register" provided monthly, and for the <br />application of these Sick Leave provisions. <br />6.8.2 The department head assures that: <br />- An employee is not on duty when he or she <br />might endanger his or her health or the health <br />of other employees; <br />- An employee is not on duty when due to <br />temporary disability or illness the <br />employee cannot perform essential duties <br />required of the job; <br />- There is no abuse of Sick Leave privileges. <br />6.8.3 The department head consults with Personnel as <br />appropriate in applying Section 6.8.2. <br />6.9 Advancing Sick Leave <br />With the approval of the County Manager, Sick Leave may <br />be advanced up to a maximum of 12 days. Such advance <br />of Sick Leave is granted under extraordinary <br />circumstances for reasons indicated in Section 6.2. <br />6.10 Effect of Separation on Sick Leave <br />At separation, the employee receives no pay for <br />accumulated, unused Sick Leave. If the employee has <br />taken more Sick Leave than earned, or if Sick Leave has <br />been advanced as in Section 6.9, the employee <br />reimburses the County for all such leave taken. <br />7.0 HEALTH INSURANCE <br />Amended It is the policy of orange county to provide its full -time <br />6/14/90 permanent and part -time permanent employees with group <br />health insurance.
