a day observed as a holiday, shall not receive regular <br />compensation,for the holiday. <br />4.7 When a holiday falls on a Saturday or a Sunday, Monday <br />will be observed as a holiday. <br />4.8 Any employee required to perform work on a designated <br />holiday, shall receive time off at the rate of 1 1/2 <br />times the total number of hours worked in addition to <br />regular pay. This time off should be used within the <br />same pay period earned and will not be carried over to <br />another pay period, and will not be allowed to <br />accumulate. <br />4.9 Holiday hours will not be paid to an employee at <br />termination, unless it occurs during a week worked. <br />(See Article IX Section 7.2.3) <br />4.10 Holidays and the four -day work week. If an employee is <br />normally off on Monday and a holiday is observed on <br />Monday, the employee will be off Monday and Tuesday. <br />If the holiday is celebrated on Friday and the employee <br />is normally off on Friday, the employee will be off <br />Thursday and Friday. <br />5.0 VACATION LEAVE (Amended 10/1/91) <br />5.1 General <br />5.1.1 The County provides Vacation Leave with pay for <br />Permanent employees, both Full Time and Part <br />Time (regularly, scheduled at least 20 hours <br />each workweek). This includes an employee <br />appointed to a permanent position serving a <br />probationary period. <br />5.1.2 Temporary employees do not earn Vacation Leave. <br />Amended 5.1.3 Employees of the Sheriff's and Register of <br />01/01/92 Deeds' departments are covered by the Vacation <br />Leave policy in the same manner as other County <br />employees. The Sheriff and Register of Deeds <br />themselves may voluntarily elect to be covered <br />by the Vacation Leave policy. Such election may <br />be made upon initial adoption of this policy or <br />upon election to a term of office and is in <br />effect for the term of office. If the Sheriff <br />or Register of Deeds elects to be covered and <br />exhausts available Vacation Leave then his or <br />her compensation is reduced by being placed on <br />leave without pay for any additional Vacation <br />leave period. This constitutes a voluntary <br />reduction in compensation under GS152A- 92b(1). <br />5.2 Usins Vacation Leave <br />Vacation Leave may be used for: <br />43 <br />
