Orange County <br />Personnel Department <br />March 27, 1992 <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Holders of Personnel Ordinance Manuals <br />FROM: Elaine Holmes <br />SUBJECT: Sick Leave Changes to the Orange County <br />Personnel Ordinance <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners has approved a <br />change to Section 6.5.3 of Article IV of the Personnel <br />Ordinance covering "Transferring Sick Leave." The Board also <br />approved revisions to the Vacation and Sick Leave policy <br />coverage for the Register of Deeds and Sheriff (Sections <br />5.1.3 and 6.1.3). <br />Enclosed are revised Sections 5.1.3, 6.1.3 and 6.5.3 of <br />the Personnel Ordinance. The revised pages are numbered so <br />that you may insert them into your current copy of the <br />Personnel Ordinance and replace the previous pages. <br />The change to Section 6.5.3 "Transferring Sick Leave" <br />deletes the date of July 1, 1985 as the date to which the <br />Sick Leave transfer provision is retroactive. The revised <br />Section 6.5.3 covers Permanent employees as of January 1, <br />1992. For such employees, Sick Leave from another local <br />governmental unit in North Carolina or from a North Carolina <br />State agency may be transferred (without regard to whether <br />the transfer occurred before or after July 1, 1985) provided <br />that the employee: <br />- Came to work as a Permanent employee <br />for Orange County within 12 months of <br />terminating employment as a Permanent <br />employee from the other N.C. local <br />government unit or N.C. State agency, and <br />- Obtains verification of the Sick Leave <br />from the other N.C. local government <br />unit or N.C.
