I D11 3� Waddell asked if those areas indicated on the maps were steep slopes and 100 -year floodplains. Cameron responded yes, but that there are existing trails and roads in Duke Forest that may be used by pedestrians and bikers. Waddell asked about the restrictions that would be placed on the properties beyond those currently in place. Cameron responded that for projects other than those affected by the recreation requirements in the ,joint Planning Area, the Staff would advise applicants to contact the Friends of New Hope, Triangle Land Conservancy and other groups that are pursuing acquisition. Waddell asked about the possible expansion of the area for protection. Cameron responded that any expansion of the area would require changing the Master Plan and presentation at public hearing. Eidenier noted that Jean Hamilton and Emily Cameron had attended the New Hope meetings and she felt this was an acceptable plan for Orange County. Waddell expressed appreciation for Hamilton's work on the committee. MOTION: Gray moved approval of the Planning Staff recommendations for the amendments to the JPA Land Use Plan and Map and the proposed amendments to the Orange County Comprehensive Plan and Map. Seconded by Eidenier. VOTE: Unanimous. AGENDA ITEM #9: PLANNING BOARD ITEMS a. Hillsborough Thoroughfare Plan Subcommittee Presentation by Gene Bell. This agenda item is to consider formation of a subcommittee which will work jointly with a subcommittee of the Hillsborough Planning Board on mutually agreeable boundary reductions for the Hillsborough Thoroughfare Plan. The Hillsborough Thoroughfare Plan was adopted in 1987 by the Town and State Board of Transportation. The County was asked to adopt it, but declined, due largely to the extensive area of County jurisdiction it covered. The plan area covers approximately 91 square males whereas the town and its extra- territorial jurisdiction cover approximately nine
