He added that the Chapel Hill planning staff would also propose 3 amendments to the town's Land Use clan to include portions of the New Hope 4 Corridor Open Space Master Plan within the town limits, 5 6 THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS OPENED FOR QUESTIONS /COMMENTS FROM CITIZENS. 7 8 Mr. David Patterson stated that he was an Orange County native and a 9 descendant of John Patterson who owned land along New Hope Creek. Mr. Patterson 10 urged protection of the headwaters of New Hope Creek, especially from site #4 11 under consideration for the proposed County landfill. 12 13 Ms. Madeline Levine and Ms. Jones also urged protection of New Hope Creek 14 by eliminating landfill site #4 from consideration. i5 16 Mr. Bill Sessoms spoke as an attorney representing a family which owns land 17 adjacent to New Hope Creek which is split by the Orange- Uurham County line. He 18 submitted a letter which is in the permanent agenda file in the Clerk's Ott ice. 19 Mr. Sessoms stated that his clients feel that the cost of acauirinc open space 20 along the corridor should be shared eaually by al tour .jurisdictions. since all 21 citizens would benefit by the open space preservation. 22 23 WITH NO FURTHER COMMENTS. THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED. 24 25 BOAI;<D ACTION 27 Motion was made by Commissioner willhoit, seconded by Commissioner 28 Halkiotis, to refer Items C-1 -(a) JPA -1 -91 American Stone Company and C -1 -(b) 29 JPA -2 -91 New Hope Corridor Open Space -Pian to the governing boards of Chapel Hill 30 and Carrboro for - a decision and to refer these items to the Orange County 31 Planning Board for a recommendation to come to the County Board of Commissioners 32 no sooner, than January 6, 1992, 33 VOTE: UNANIMOUS 34 36 Motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner Halkiatis. 36 to refer Items D -1 -(a) Comprehensive Plan (Land Use Element) and Map Amendments 37 (CP -3 -91) American Stone Company and D -1 -(b) - CP -4 -91 New Hope Corridor Open 38 Space Master Plan to the Orange County Planning Board for a recommendation to 39 come to the County.Board of Commissioners no sooner than January 6, 1992. 40 VOTE: UNANIMOUS 41 42 There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
