D <br />STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES <br />Activities funded under this program will be performed in compliance with the <br />applicable Secretary of ,the Interior's "Standards for Archeology and Historic <br />Preservation," and shall be ;conducted under the supervision of the North <br />Carolina Historic Preservation Office. <br />Qualifications of the staff, consultants, or principal investigators <br />undertaking the work must meet the applicable minimal professional <br />qualifications in 36 CFR 61, Appendix A. <br />Grantees must sign the Equal Opportunity Statement included with the <br />application. <br />SELECTION CRITERIA <br />All grant proposals will be reviewed and evaluated on the basis of the <br />following: <br />contributions to the state's comprehensive plan for <br />archaeological and architectural resources <br />emphasis in areas-of known development activity <br />contribution to statewide inventories of historic resources <br />quality of resources in project area <br />soundness of project application <br />impact on local community <br />A complete explanation of the project selection process, including detailed <br />selection criteria, is available from Lloyd Childers, grants administrator, <br />State Historic Preservation Office, N.C. Division of Archives and History, <br />109 East Jones Street, Raleigh, NC. 27601 -2807 (919) 733 -4763. <br />ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS AND ACTIVITIES <br />Eligible applicants include:' Local governments, universities and private <br />non - profit preservation organizations. <br />Eligible activities: Typical Survey and Planning projects include <br />comprehensive architectural or archaeological surveys, nominations to the <br />National Register of Historic Places,.and preservation plans. Publication of <br />surveys, museum exhibits, research, and educational programs are usually not <br />funded. <br />0 <br />
