Passmore , ext. 2000 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBER- <br />Hillsborough - 732 -8181 <br />Chapel Hill - 968 -4501 <br />Mebane - 227 -2031 <br />Durham - 688 -7331 <br />PURPOSE: To authorize a resolution to apply for UMTA Section 18 <br />Capital funding and enter into an agreement with the <br />North Carolina Department of Transportation. <br />BACKGROUND: Orange County Commissioners approved on January 22, 1991 <br />an updated Transportation Development Plan (TDP). <br />The approved plan makes the County eligible for federal <br />and state funding of vehicles and equipment requested in <br />the document over a four year period. <br />The plan for FY 92 -93 involves the purchase of one standard <br />24 passenger bus, one 24 passenger bus with a lift and one <br />14 passenger conversion van with lift for human services <br />transportation. The C.A.T. (Coordinated Agency <br />Transportation) Program will administer the grant and <br />coordinate the use of approved equipment. The total cost is <br />$ 111,215 with 60% requested from UMTA, 20% from the N.C. <br />Department of Transportation and 20% from local agencies. <br />Local match is provided by participating C.A.T. agencies <br />assigned use of the equipment. The requested buses will be <br />used by the Dept. on Aging, and Orange Enterprises and <br />the van request will be used by OCCH$. <br />Based on Public Notice response, a public hearing on Orange <br />County's proposed UMTA Section 18 application will be held <br />by the Orange County Human Services Transportation Advisory <br />Board on Thursday, January 23, 1992 at 2:00 p.m., 300 W. <br />Tryon St., Hillsborough, N.C. <br />RECOMMENDATION (S) : The Manager recommends that the Board approve the resolution and <br />authorize the Chair to sign necessary documents, subject to the review <br />of the County Attorney. <br />
