PUBLIC HEARING YES: NO:XX <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: PAM JONES <br />OR WILBERT MCAD00 <br />BID TABULATION Telephone Number - <br />Hillsborough - 732 -8181 <br />Chapel Hill - 967 -9251 <br />Mebane - 227 -2031 <br />Durham -688 -7331 <br />PURPOSE: To award a bid for roof replacement at Central Recreation <br />Center, 300 West Tryon Street, Hillsborough. <br />BACKGROUND: Pursuant to GS 143 -129, bids were advertised and <br />solicited for replacement of the Central Recreation roof. Five bids <br />were received on January 14, 1992, a tabulation is attached. <br />The lowest responsible bidder is Cyclone Roofing Company, for a lump <br />sum price of $27,300. There is presently a budget of $45,000 available <br />in the Capital Reserve account to support this work. The contract time <br />for completion of the work is 45 days from the date of the Notice to <br />Proceed; work should be completed around March 15, 1992. <br />It is recommended that the Board award the bid, as well as approve the <br />contract, contingent upon staff and attorney review in order to <br />expedite the work as much as possible. Recent heavy rains have caused <br />the leak to worsen and we are experiencing damage to the gym floor. <br />RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends that the Board award a bid and <br />approve the contract, contingent upon staff and attorney review, to <br />Cyclone Roofing Company, Matthews, NC, for a sum of $27,300; and <br />authorize the Chair to sign on behalf of the Board. <br />
