26 <br />Attachment 3 <br />(1 -8 -92) <br />DRAFT REVISED SECTIONS 8.0 AND 10.0 <br />FROM ARTICLE III OF THE PERSONNEL ORDINANCE <br />8.0 SAFETY CONDUCT AND PERFORMANCE <br />It is the objective of this County to.conduct all <br />operations as safely and efficiently as possible. All <br />County employees should practice supply economy, energy <br />conservation, security of County equipment and property and <br />all safety procedures. <br />8.1 Accidents involving injuries of County personnel using <br />County equipment shall be reported immediately, as <br />appropriate, to the employee's immediate supervisor. <br />8.2 In the case of vehicle operations, County drivers will <br />be required to own a valid N.C. Driver's license. <br />County drivers will be expected to follow the <br />principles of "Defensive Driving ", to drive so as to <br />prevent accidents in spite of the incorrect action of <br />others and in spite of adverse driving conditions. <br />County drivers will be expected to wear seat belts <br />while driving County.owned vehicles. <br />New Article 8.2.1 <br />IX, Appendix <br />2, Item 2b (15) <br />New Article 8.2.2 <br />IX, Appendix�T`�`i"" <br />2, Item 2b (16) <br />leymeftt- <br />8.3 The County makes reasonable efforts to provide safe, <br />healthful working conditions, the County is genuinely <br />genuinely interested in the health of all employees. <br />In accordance with legal requirements: <br />8.3.1 Employees must keep work areas clean and . <br />orderly. <br />8.3.2 Employees should be watchful for unsafe <br />conditions and unsafe practices in the work <br />place. Such occurrences should be reported to <br />the supervisor immediately. <br />8.3.3 Employees should use prescribed safety <br />equipment to protect themselves and fellow <br />employees and to safeguard County equipment and <br />property. In designated areas, safety <br />glasses, shields, gloves, and ear protectors <br />should be worn. <br />
