r <br />#1 <br />ISSUES /RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING ORIENTATION <br />Issue: Should orientation attendance be required? <br />Recommendation: Yes. <br />Issue: How often should orientation be offered? <br />Recommendation: At least twice a year in February and August <br />(with interim material provided in between); <br />orientation needs to be matched with <br />appointments. <br />Issue: How much will training cost? <br />This depends on staff time, materials used, place of <br />orientation and food provided. <br />The committee estimates that training will cost five <br />dollars per person: <br />- internal staff and county commissioners <br />provide orientation <br />- training held on county -owned property <br />- those attending receive orientation packet <br />- refreshments served during a break <br />Training will cost ten dollars per person if same as <br />above with addition of lunch for participants <br />Recommendation: As the board decides. <br />Issue: Will this replace orientation which is currently <br />offered to board /commission members by individual <br />commissions /boards? <br />Recommendation: No; each board /commission is encouraged to <br />continue offering specific training needed <br />for that particular board /commission; our <br />orientation will supplement their existing <br />efforts. <br />3 <br />
