12
JUSTIFICATION
PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE I
Child service coordination (CSC), a state mandated service, has continued to see
growth in the number of infants with serious physical problems or harmful psycho -
social environments which must be followed. Current staffing is unable to con-
tinue to meet the growing need.
Family planning services at OCHD have noted a leveling of persons which can be
served suggesting that our current clinics and staffing have reached their full
capacity for providing services. The family planning program is the most cost
effective mechanism for helping reduce infant mortality and morbidity by assist-
ing women to maintain or improve their health status and space pregnancies so
that they are less likely to have a poor pregnancy outcome. The addition of a
half -time nurse would allow the FP program to expand -and provide FP services to
more women during clinical time which is currently providing only STD services.
An additional 12 service encounters per week could be provided for family
planning plus provide additional nursing hours for follow -up of clients with
positive or abnormal findings.
ACTUAL
ACTUAL
ACTUAL
ACTUAL
PROJECTED
FY'89-'90
FY'88 -'89
FY'89 -'90
FY190 -191
FY'91 -192
# child Service coor-
54
112
131
156
dination Infants
encounters
tracked
# Home visits in
286
381
556
656
child Health program
Family planning services at OCHD have noted a leveling of persons which can be
served suggesting that our current clinics and staffing have reached their full
capacity for providing services.
