In May 1991, the <br />Hospitals and the County agreed upon charges at the rate of $50 per <br />trip plus $2.00 per patient loaded mile for all emergency transports <br />during the cited period. The Hospitals have paid the County $18,826 in <br />settlement of outstanding charges for that period. <br />Hillhaven has agreed to settlement of outstanding charges incurred <br />during the same period, under terms that essentially parallel the <br />settlement with UNC Hospitals. The amount that will be due Orange <br />County in accordance with the attached settlement agreement is $10,428. <br />In the 1991 -92 Budget Ordinance, the Board of Commissioners approved a <br />revised fee for non - emergency ambulance transports for all service <br />users. Effective July 1, 1991, the fee is $60 per call plus $3.00 per <br />patient loaded mile. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the <br />settlement agreement and authorize the Chair to sign it. <br />
