BACKGROUND: (1) Orange County Department of Social Services has received additional Block Grant funding for this fiscal year. These funds will be utilized to expand the number of clients receiving payments through the Foster Care, Adolescent Parenting and CHORE programs. This amendment will increase the total allocation for the Protective Services program by $42,070. No additional County funds are required. (2) Orange County Department of Social Services has received notification from the State of a funding decrease in the Energy Assistance program. This decrease, totalling $15,738, will provide funds for approximately the same number of clients as served last year; however, program payments will be lower than last year's. (3) Orange County Department of Social Services has received a JOBS Component Development Project grant from the State. This grant, which totals $26,142, will enhance services offered to JOBS participants by helping them develop self- awareness and achieve self - sufficiency. The grant period began November 8, 1991 and ends May 31, 1992. RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board of Commissioners adopt the proposed Budget Ordinance Amendments and ACES Grant Project Ordinance.
