HILLHAVEN SETTLEMENT <br />The Board approved an agreement with the Hillhaven Corporation that <br />would settle outstanding charges owed by Hillhaven Convalescent Center to <br />Orange County for non - emergency ambulance transports during the period July <br />1, 1989 - June 30, 1991 in the amount of $10,428. <br />VOTE ON THE CONSENT AGENDA: UNANIMOUS <br />IV. RESOLUTIONS PROCLAMATIONS - NONE <br />V. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />A. 1991 NACo AWARDS <br />Chairman Moses Carey presented awards to and the County <br />Commissioners congratulated the winners of the 1991 NACo awards. Janet <br />Sparks received the award for Project Kids; Nick Waters received the award <br />for the Comprehensive Training Program for emergency communications <br />personnel; Mary Scearbo received the award for the Environmental Impact <br />Program; David Stancil received the award for the Orange County Land Use Plan <br />and Don Powell received the award for the Rural House Numbering Program. <br />VII. REPORTS <br />A. GOVERNMENT SERVICES BUILDING - OFFICIAL NAME <br />John Link reported that the letters for the official name of the <br />new government services building which is currently under construction need <br />to be ordered within the next few weeks. This name will go over the front <br />entrance to that building. Also, the present tax and records building will <br />need to be renamed. It was decided that John Link would bring back for the <br />Boards' consideration several names for both of these buildings. These will <br />be presented on January 6, 1992 for consideration. <br />John Link made reference to the stairwell which has a glass wall to <br />the outside and stated that staff has considered several stained glass <br />pictures for this wall which would show different things about the county. <br />He will get a final cost from the artist within the next six weeks and bring <br />this item back to the Board for further consideration. An attempt will be <br />made to contact local artists who may be skilled in doing stained glass and <br />interested in doing this type of work. <br />MANAGER'S COMMENTS <br />John Link informed the Board that the Social Services Director and <br />staff received 470 points out of 500 on their recent monitoring process <br />conducted by the State. Orange County is rated very high in the State <br />ratings. Social Services Director Marti Pryor -Cook explained the process and <br />the approach they have chosen which is client focused. <br />
