Only then did she suggest we call Information again <br />and ask for the Mebane operator because some of the people in <br />Efland had Mebane numbers. Thus, not only do we pay long <br />distance charges for calling most places in Orange County, but <br />we are not even listed in the phone directory as being in Orange <br />County. <br />Because of the cumulative monthly cost of phone calls to <br />other parts of Orange County, we deliberately do not make a <br />number of business and private phone calls to Chapel Hill or <br />Hillsborough that we would otherwise make. Inevitably, these <br />long distance charges cause us to do less business in Orange <br />County than if we had toll free access. Orange County is an <br />economic and social unit, and our telephone system should reflect <br />this unity. <br />We strongly advocate <br />of all telephone systems <br />extra monthly charges to <br />throughout Orange County. <br />Carl M.
