113 <br />REALT00 <br />Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />Orange County Commissioners Office <br />400 Court Street <br />Hillsborough, NC 27278 <br />Dear Commissioners: <br />CHAPEL HILL BOARD OF REALTORS® INC. <br />501 WEST FRANKLIN STREET, SUITE 104 <br />CHAPEL HILL, NORTH CAROLINA 27516 <br />April 16, 1991 <br />The Chapel Hill Board of REALTORS with a membership of 325 individuals <br />engaged in the real estate and related financial and ancillary professions in Orange <br />County at its April General Membership meeting unanimously voted to endorse the <br />following: <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING <br />EXTENDED AREA SERVICE <br />IN ORANGE COUNTY <br />WHEREAS, Orange County is a dynamic community of 94,000 people <br />and approximately 400 square miles, and <br />WHEREAS, the County is a community divided by its telephone <br />service with six telephone toll areas served by -four different <br />telephone companies, and <br />WHEREAS, because of this fragmented local telephone service the <br />community suffers both economically and socially, and <br />WHEREAS, the telephone barriers are totally out of align with <br />community development and <br />WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Commissioners is requesting <br />extended area service for the county to include all exchanges <br />except those in Prospect Hill, Timberlake, and the area <br />adjacent to the Durham County line served by GTE. <br />BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that the Chapel Hill Board of <br />REALTORS, Inc. supports the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners request for extended area service. <br />Chapel Hill Board of REALTORS, Inc. <br />E.
