4 <br />The CAD /GIS Integration Study is documented in five reports: <br />1) overview and Needs Analysis <br />2) Vendor Survey <br />3) Preliminary System Design <br />4) Final System - Design <br />5) Implementation Plan <br />This report provides the CAD /GIS integrated system <br />preliminary design. <br />Computer -Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems are made up of computer <br />hardware and software used in emergency services dispatch <br />operations. The functions of CAD systems include: <br />1) integration of ALI /ANI data from the E911 system, computer <br />software features to allow entry of'calltaker and incident <br />tracking data and dispatcher recordkeeping with automatic <br />time logging of incident events; <br />2) status display and management for equipment, personnel and <br />other resources; <br />3) data capture and reporting of incident, performance, <br />resource allocation information; <br />4) automation features to satisfy standard reporting <br />Page 2 <br />
