Since that time, computer hardware <br />capabilities have been upgraded approximately every three years. <br />During recent months, the Data Processing Manager and Purchasing <br />Director have solicited bids from computer vendors while exploring <br />possible methods to address the need to increase the capacity and <br />number of users of the County's mainframe computers. The current <br />configuration of equipment was approved for purchase by the Board of <br />Commissioners in March, 1989. Lack of disk space, limitations on the <br />number of additional connections to the mainframes, and slower <br />equipment response times are becoming a problem that will need to be <br />addressed fairly soon. <br />The attached report reviews the County's <br />status with regard to mainframe computer <br />results of the bid process, and examines <br />Orange County in improving our mainframe <br />Processing Manager will address question <br />report.
