The existing open space system in Chapel Hill Township, <br />including the area north of the Joint Planning Area, which <br />includes Duke Forest, existing agricultural and forest lands, as <br />well as areas identified in the-New Hope Corridor Open Space <br />Master Elan, should be protected from intrusion by incompatible <br />land uses. <br />Distribution of Land Use Plan Categories <br />Land in Chapel Hill Township north of the Joint Planning Area <br />falls into six land classifications. <br />RESOURCE PROTECTION AREAS <br />AGRICULTURAL PROTECTION AREAS <br />PUBLIC INTEREST AREAS <br />NEW HOPE CREEK CORRIDOR OPEN SPACE AREAS: New Hope Creek <br />Corridor 0penSpace Areas include some of the Resource Protection <br />Areas and a portion of the Public /Private Open Space.. Areas which <br />were designated as significant and worthy of protection <br />according to the New Hope Corridor-Open Space Master Plan <br />completed in April of 1991. (See Master Plan Map in the <br />Appendices). The areas are hart of a system of open sgaee in <br />Durham and Orange Counties along New Hope Creek and its <br />tributaries between Eno River State Park and U.S. Army Corps of <br />Engineers land north of Jordan Lake.
