005 <br />Jordan. The four jurisdictions contracted with Coulter <br />Associates, Landscape Architects & Land Planners, to prepare a <br />master plan for the corridor. Prepared with the assistance of <br />a multi - jurisdictional Advisory Committee, the New Hope <br />Corridor Open Space Master Plan was presented to elected <br />officials of the four jurisdictions on April 30, 1991. <br />The Plan includes recommendations for acquiring critical <br />environmental areas such as stream beds, floodplains, steep <br />slopes, and larger tracts of historic, educational or <br />recreational value. Acquisition could be through donation, <br />purchase in fee simple or purchase of development rights. The <br />purpose of the proposed amendment is to incorporate the <br />recommendations of the New Hope Corridor Open Space Master <br />Plan into the Land Use Element and Map of the Orange County <br />Comprehensive Plan. <br />Amendments to the Land Use Element and Map require only the <br />approval of Orange County. <br />All interested citizens are invited to attend this hearing and <br />be heard. Public comment will be received during the public <br />hearing. Following the close of the public hearing, only evidence <br />received in writing by the date of the Planning Board meeting <br />following the public hearing will be considered by the Board of <br />Commissioners for decision. <br />Changes may be made in the advertised proposals which reflect <br />debate, objections and discussion at the hearing. <br />Questions regarding the proposals may be directed to the <br />Orange County Planning Department located in the Planning & <br />Agricultural Center, 306F Revere Road, Hillsborough, North <br />Carolina.
