PUBLIC HEARING YES: NO:XX <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: PAM JONES <br />CONTRACT EXT 2650 <br />NOTICE TO PROCEED Telephone Number - <br />Hillsborough - 732 -8181 <br />Chapel Hill - 967 -9251 <br />Mebane - 227 -2031 <br />Durham -688 -7331 <br />PURPOSE: To approve a contract for construction of Efland- Cheeks <br />Community Center and Park. <br />BACKGROUND: On September 17, 1991, the Board of Commissioners awarded <br />a bid to O'Neal Construction Company for construction of the Efland- <br />Cheeks Community Center and Park. The Board approved the acceptance of <br />both Alternates two and four, for playground equipment and a concrete <br />storage building. <br />Upon approval by the Board, a Notice to Proceed shall be issued with a <br />completion date to be 150 days following the date of Notice to Proceed. <br />In order to expedite the building project, it si requested that the <br />County Manager be authorized to execute any necessary change orders; <br />within the project budget. <br />RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends approval of a contract with <br />O'Neal Construction Company, Chapel Hill, NC for a sum of $224,147; <br />authorization for the Chair to sign on behalf of the Board; and <br />authorization for the County Manager to approve future change orders. <br />
