6 <br />DRAFT <br />VISITOR BUREAU DIRECTOR <br />POSITION DESCRIPTION <br />��j * -F IdF <br />Attachment 1 <br />September 12, 1991 <br />This position serves as director for the Chapel <br />Hill /Orange County Visitor Bureau. In this role the <br />position provides leadership, organization and <br />coordination for visitor services in Orange County. The <br />position reports to the Chapel Hill /Orange County <br />Visitor Bureau Board. <br />MAJOR DUTIES: <br />Planning <br />Assesses the needs and recommends initiatives to attract <br />visitors and promote effective visitor services. <br />Performs primary research to enhance visitor services <br />including identification of activities and services <br />available for Orange county visitors and marketing <br />research to target visitor groups. <br />Develops plans and strategies to implement visitor <br />programs, including pr6vision for participation by <br />involved community groups. <br />Marketing/Information <br />Develops a marketing program to.increase the number of <br />visitors to the County and encourage longer stays. <br />Creates and distributes marketing and information <br />materials including maps and brochures that will inform <br />and attract visitors. <br />Develops and distributes a calendar of events of <br />interest to Chapel Hill /Orange County visitors. <br />Serves as a spokesperson for visitor services, including <br />meeting with visitors individually and in groups to <br />communicate about available services and making <br />presentations to attract events and groups to the <br />County. <br />
