The <br />materials covered draft position description, <br />recruitment plan, advertisement, Visitor Bureau <br />timetable, and suggested initial Board meeting agenda. <br />BACKGROUND: The Economic Development Commission's Strategic Plan's <br />Challenge 9 is to develop and implement a program to <br />attract and serve visitors to Orange County. Several <br />different options for structuring a visitor bureau as <br />the vehicle to meet this challenge have been explored <br />and, at their September 17th meeting, Commission <br />appointed the interim Chapel Hill /Orange County Visitor <br />Bureau Board. <br />The proposed agenda for the first meeting of the interim <br />board includes review of the draft position description <br />and other material related to initiating the process of <br />hiring the Director of the Visitor Bureau. <br />RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends that the Commission provide the <br />Manager with comments on the material provided to them <br />earlier so that this information can be included in <br />the presentation to the interim Chapel Hill /Orange <br />County Visitor Bureau Board. <br />
