5 <br /> . . the mo::t::. <br /> 6..8 An employee with permanent status , who terminated <br /> employment on good terms with the County may be <br /> reinstated .and -returned the unused portion of accrued <br /> sick leave if reinstated within one year of termination <br /> date. This is contingent upon the County Manager' s <br /> approval . <br /> 6.9 No employee shall be .paid for any accrued sick leave at <br /> separation; however, if the employee has taken more <br /> sick leave than earned, payment must be made to the <br /> County for all extra leave advanced. ( See Article IX <br /> Section 7 . 3 ) . <br /> 6 . 10 A new employee may transfer up to 15 days of sick <br /> leave from another local government or state agency <br /> *within the State of.- North Carolina, upon the <br /> recommendation of the department head and with the <br /> approval -of the County Manager . <br /> 6 . 11 Absences for a fraction or part of a day that are <br /> chargeable to sick leave in accordance with these <br /> provisions shall be charged proportionately in amounts <br /> not smaller than one--hale hour increments (30 minutes ) . <br /> 6 . 12 Sick leave will be cumulative for an indefirite period, <br /> and there will be no maximum amount of sick leave *,hick <br /> may be accumulated. <br /> 6 . 13 Holidays or regularly scheduled days off which occur <br /> during an employee' s sick leave shall not be charged as <br /> sick leave for such days off . <br /> 6. 14 Each department head is responsible for maintaining <br /> supporting records, and shall be responsible for the <br /> application of these provisions to the end that, <br /> ( 1 ) employees shall not be on duty when they might <br /> endanger their health or the health of other, employees, <br /> (2 ) when due to temporary disability or illness the <br /> employee cannot perform duties recuired of the job, and <br /> (3 ) there shall be no abuse of sick leave m ivileces . <br /> G- 15 Extended- Sick Leave . In addition 'to that earned may be <br /> granted .up. to a .maximum. of twelve ('12 ) days with the <br /> approval of the County Manager. Extended sick leave <br /> will be granted for the same reasons as indicated in <br /> Section 6 . 1 due to extraordinary circumstances . Sick <br /> leave nay not be advanced during a leave without pay <br /> status . <br />
