Quaker Lake <br />State Proposes WS Ii <br />Alamance County Proposes WS III <br />Comment: In Alamance County's jurisdiction of this watershed there <br />are over 26 acres per dwelling unit. Alamance County would again <br />submit that one acre lots outside the critical area should be <br />adequate in this watershed for the same reasons as in the Stoney <br />Creek Watershed. <br />3. Big Alamance Creek Lake Macintosh <br />State Proposes WS IV <br />Alamance County Proposes WS III <br />Comment: Only a small portion of this watershed is in Alamance <br />County, all of which is critical area. Alamance County's watershed <br />ordinance already provides for an 80,000 square -foot minimum lot <br />size for residential lots. Current residential development in this <br />critical area is 18+ acres per dwelling unit. Lake Macintosh, when <br />completed, will be the primary water supply for several cities <br />whose total population approaches 50,000. <br />4. Haw Creek (Proposed Lake <br />State Proposes WS II <br />Alamance County Proposes WS IV <br />Comment: This reservoir has been in the planning stages since <br />1969. To our knowledge, no real progress is being made to actually <br />build the reservoir. The upper reaches of the watershed take in <br />Interstate -40/85 and southern Mebane's growth area. A WS II would <br />severely limit the planned growth for this area. <br />5. Cane Creek (OWASA) <br />State Proposes WS II <br />Alamance County Proposes WS III <br />Comment: Alamance County submits that one acre lots are adequate <br />to protect the water supplies in this area of Alamance County. <br />Only a small area of the watershed is in Alamance County. The <br />existing development is approximately 26 acres per dwelling unit. <br />
