Effective June <br />10, 1991, this Section, as applicable to Orange <br />County, was amended to allow the County to develop <br />recreation areas using funds received from subdividers <br />who make payments in lieu of dedicating land for <br />recreation. Previously, the County could only acquire <br />land with payment -in -lieu funds, but not develop the <br />recreation area with monies from the same source. <br />The proposed amendment to Section IV- B -7 -b -6 will <br />include development of recreation areas as a use for <br />funds received from payments made in lieu of dedica- <br />tion. <br />During preliminary review of the proposed amendment, <br />the question was raised by the Planning Board as to <br />whether money generated from the sale of land <br />dedicated for recreation purposes could also be used <br />for development of recreation areas (refer to the <br />last sentence of Section IV- B- 7 -b -6).
