72 <br />2 <br />A RESOLUTION COMMENTING ON PROPOSED CLASSIFICATIONS FOR PROTECTING <br />WATER SUPPLY WATERSHEDS (91- 7- 8/R -14) <br />WHEREAS, the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill requested on July 9,- <br />1990 by Resolution 90- 7 -9/R -5 that the Environmental Management <br />Commission consider special standards for specific watersheds; and <br />WHEREAS, the water supply rules adopted by the Environmental <br />Management Commission on December 13, 1990 include a provision at 15 <br />NCAC 2B .0104 (k) which allows the Commission to designate critical <br />water supply watersheds; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel <br />Hill that the Council requests the Environmental Management <br />commission to: <br />1) Designate University Lake watershed as a critical water supply <br />watershed, with recommendations regarding standards to be developed <br />after discussions among the local governments involved; and <br />2) After completion of appropriate technical studies by the Orange <br />Water and Sewer Authority (now tentatively scheduled for FY 1992- <br />93), that the Commission consider designating Cane Creek watershed <br />as a critical water supply watershed if supported by the conclusions <br />of the study. <br />This the 8th day of July, 1991. <br />
