OA <br />IV. RESOLUTIONS /PROCLAMATIONS <br />A. PROCLAMATION OF WOMEN'S EQUALITY DAY <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Insko, seconded by <br />Commissioner Gordon to proclaim August 26, 1991 as Women's Equality Day <br />in Orange County in accordance with the proclamation as stated below: <br />P R O C L A M A T I O N <br />WHEREAS, on August 26, 1920, the 19th Amendment to the Constitution of <br />the United States was ratified; and <br />WHEREAS, that amendment reads as follows: "The right of citizens of the <br />United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United <br />States or by any state on account of sex "; and <br />WHEREAS, the power of the vote is the gateway to continued improvements <br />in the status of women; and <br />WHEREAS, the Orange County Commission for Women advises the citizens and <br />the Board of Commissioners of Orange County of the status of women in <br />Orange County; and <br />WHEREAS, that status remains unequal, especially economically and <br />politically; and <br />WHEREAS, yet women make significant contributions economically, <br />politically and in myriad ways to Orange County, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />proclaim Monday, August 26, 1991 as <br />WOMEN'S EQUALITY DAY <br />in celebration of women's contributions and their <br />political equality and do hereby urge all citizens <br />full equality for all women. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />does hereby <br />right to economic and <br />to work to guarantee <br />B. RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO LOCAL LEGISLATORS <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Willhoit, seconded by <br />Commissioner Halkiotis to approve the resolution as stated below with <br />the addition of Senator Ralph Hunt. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Willhoit, seconded by <br />Commissioner Insko to reconsider the previous motion. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />Motion was made by Commissioner Willhoit, seconded by <br />Commissioner Insko to honor the four legislators who represent Orange <br />County. That resolution is stated below: <br />LEGISLATIVE <br />RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION <br />TO <br />THE LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION FROM <br />ORANGE COUNTY <br />WHEREAS, The Orange County Board of Commissioners developed and <br />approved a legislative package that was submitted to the <br />Orange County delegation for consideration by the 1991 Session <br />of the North Carolina General Assembly, and <br />
