10. ALLOCATIONS OF FUTURE WATER SUPPLIES <br />(JORDAN LAKE) <br />Issue <br />The EMC, in 1988 allocated 14 jurisdictions in Orange, Chatham, Durham and Wake Counties <br />the right to draw certain amounts of water per day from Jordan Lake. Cary and Apex have <br />begun construction on treatment plant to utilize their allocation. Orange, County, OWASA, <br />Hillsborough and Orange- Alamance all have future allotments from Jordan Lake water. <br />Jordan Lake, as large regional facility, has substantial recreational use. Questions have been <br />raised about its long -term viability as a long -term quality water source. <br />PossiblLAIkMgveg <br />A.
