ORANGE COUNTY PLANNING DEPARTMENT <br />306F REVERE ROAD <br />HILLSBOROUGH, NORTH CAROLINA 27278 <br />13 <br />3 <br />NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON <br />PROPOSED STATE WATERSHED CLASSIFICATIONS AND DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS, <br />A SPECIAL USE PERMIT APPLICATION, ZONING ORDINANCE AND SUBDIVISION <br />REGULATIONS AMENDMENTS, AND ADDITIONS TO THE <br />SCHEDULE OF PLANNING FEES <br />FOR ORANGE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Pursuant to the requirements of the General Statutes of North <br />Carolina, Chapter 153A, 240, 323, and 343; Article 20, Sections <br />20.5 and 20.6, of the Orange County Zoning Ordinance; and Section <br />VIII of the Orange County Subdivision Regulations, notice is hereby <br />given that a public hearing will be held in the Superior Courtroom <br />of the Orange County Courthouse (New), 106 East Margaret Lane, <br />Hillsborough, North Carolina, on Monday, November 26, 1991, at 7:30 <br />p.m. for the purpose of giving all interested citizens an <br />opportunity to speak for or against the following items: <br />PROPOSED STATE WATERSHED CLASSIFICATIONS AND DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS <br />-The 1989 Water Supply Watershed Protection Act requires every <br />local government in the state to protect water supply watersheds, <br />at a minimum, to the level of new standards adopted by the <br />Environmental Management Commission (EMC). The EMC has also <br />proposed preliminary classifications for each of Orange County's 11 <br />water supply watersheds. <br />On August 15, 1991, the EMC will conduct one of six regional <br />public hearings for local governments and interested citizens to <br />comment on proposed watershed classifications and adopted <br />development standards applicable in each type of watershed. The <br />public hearing will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Archdale Building <br />in Raleigh, N.C. Recently adopted legislation in the General <br />Assembly will delay the classification and implementation process, <br />but the public hearing may be the only opportunity to request <br />different watershed classifications than those proposed. <br />Although the public hearing is being held on August 15, <br />written comments will be accepted by the EMC through September 30, <br />1991. Thus, the Board of Commissioners would like to receive <br />comment on the watershed classifications as proposed by the EMC: <br />
