In <br />commercial and office zoning districts, such <br />facilities are permitted by right. <br />Recently, Child Care Networks contacted the <br />Planning Department about a new category of <br />child care arrangement approved and licensed <br />by the N.C. Child Day Care Commission. The <br />new category is a "large day care home" and <br />is termed a "home" because it is usually <br />located in a family residence. A large day <br />care home may have from six to 15 children, <br />but the actual number depends upon the ages <br />of children. <br />Child Care Networks requested that the <br />current ordinance provisions be amended to <br />allow large day care homes but without the <br />necessity of obtaining a Class B Special Use <br />Permit. The amendments presented below are <br />proposed in response to Child Care Networks' <br />request. <br />EXISTING PROVISIONS: See attached provisions. <br />K, <br />
