This facility will replace the Efland - Cheeks <br />Multi- purpose Center on Highway 70, which is currently leased <br />by the County. <br />The process for planning the Community Center and Park has <br />been as follows: <br />March, 1991: Planning Committee is formed. Members <br />include: Chair to Board of Commissioners, Assistant <br />County Manager, JOCCA Director, Recreation and Parks <br />Director, Director for the Department on Aging, and <br />representatives from their Boards, Mary Bobbitt -Cooke <br />and Thomas Vick, representing the Orange County Schools <br />as well as numerous community residents. <br />April, 1991: Architects from LCDA met with the Planning <br />Committee to define the specific needs that the facility <br />would be expected to address. <br />June, 1991: Final meeting with Planning Committee to <br />present plans and receive further comment. <br />
