This taxing authority is in addition to the <br />existing Chapel Hill occupancy tax. <br />The legislation establishes that a minimum of 10% of <br />the tax be dedicated to visitor information services <br />cultural events. The intent has been to establish a <br />with proceeds dedicated to partially funding a visit <br />in Orange County. The Board <br />may want to consider and discuss these recommendations, with the <br />option of postponing approval action pending further deliberation. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends: that the Board of <br />Commissioners adopt the proposed resolution levying a 1% occupancy tax, <br />effective September 1, 1991, on all lodging rentals as authorized by <br />the General Assembly; that following sufficient discussion, the Board <br />approve the attached recommendations for establishing a visitor bureau. <br />
