The community borders
both sides of Whitfield Road north of Chapel Hill. The
changes proposed would makes the addresses consistent
with the numbering system approved in 1987 and applied
to the entire county between 1987 and the present. This
is particularly important for 911 service.
Similar issues were raised in 1987 when new house
numbers were proposed for Hideaway Estates Subdivision_
and The Trails Subdivision. Hideaway Estates is a 80 -lot
subdivision located between N.C. Highway 86 and I -40,
northwest of the New Hope Creek /N.C. Highway 86
intersection. House numbers in the 100, 200, etc. range
had been established at the time the subdivision was
being developed. Lots in the subdivision are
approximately 1.1 acres in size.
The Trails Subdivision contains approximately 104 lots
and is located east of Dodsons Crossroads and north of
N.C. Highway 54. House numbers were also established in
the 100, 200, etc. range at the time of development.
