The current <br />standards would prevent existing lots with no suitable <br />repair area, and uses with failing septic systems and <br />no suitable repair area on the same lot from locating <br />nitrification fields on separate lot. <br />Definitions are also provided of "septic tank <br />system," "alternative septic system," and" community <br />alternative system." The latter definition was <br />inadvertently omitted when revisions to the interim <br />development standards for University Lake watershed <br />were adopted. <br />BACKGROUND: On April 2, 1990, the Board of Commissioners adopted <br />protection measures for University Lake watershed. The <br />new standards limit water supply and sewage treatment <br />systems to individual wells and on -site septic systems <br />or individual on -site alternative disposal systems. <br />"On- site" means that no system will be permitted where <br />effluent disposal occurs on a separate lot. Repair <br />areas must be located on the same lot as the dwelling <br />(or use) which generates the wastewater. <br />Following adoption of the standards, the County <br />
