PUBLIC HEARING ^YES: -NO: XX <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: PAM -JONES <br />EXT 2650 <br />CONTRACT <br />Telephone Number - <br />Hillsborough - 732 -8181 <br />Chapel Hill - 967 -9251 <br />Mebane -227 -2031 <br />Durham - 688 -7331 <br />PURPOSE: To consider entering into an agreement as drafted jointly <br />with the Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro with Southern International <br />Fireworks, Inc. to provide a fireworks display on July 4, 1991. <br />BACKGROUND: Contingent upon the Board's approval of a contract among <br />the University, the County and the Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro to <br />co- sponsor an Independence Day Celebration at Kenan Stadium, it is the <br />intent to contract with Southern International Fireworks, Inc, to <br />provide the fireworks display for the event. Southern International <br />Fireworks has provided this service in the past to the Town of Carrboro <br />at their July 4 Celebration. <br />Highlights of the attached draft contract between the County and the <br />Towns with Southern International Fireworks, Inc. include the following: <br />Southern will provide a fireworks display at the Ramshead Parking <br />lot (mortar fireworks) and in Kenan Stadium (stationary fireworks). <br />Southern will provide all necessary equipment, as well as trained <br />and competent personnel to conduct the display. <br />Southern will provide all specified insurance coverages naming <br />the County and the Towns as additional named insureds. <br />Proof of insurance will be submitted to the local governments along <br />with the executed contract. <br />Southern agrees to hold harmless the County, Towns and University <br />from all loss, liability and claims or expense caused by the negligence <br />or willful misconduct of Southern. <br />
