Fikes <br />TELEPHONE NUMBER - <br />Hillsborough - 732 -8181 <br />Chapel Hill - 968 -4501 <br />Mebane - 227 -2031 <br />Durham - 688 -7331 <br />-----------------------------------------------------------------------a- <br />PURPOSE: To approve execution of the Grant Agreement; Funding - <br />Approval Form; Signatory Form and Certification; Request <br />for Release of Funds and Certification; and the NCDOT <br />Agreement for the Chestnut Oaks Housing Development <br />Program and approve the related Grant Project-Ordinance. <br />BACKGROUND: The County has fulfilled all the conditions associated with <br />the Housing Development Grant award for $175,000 for road <br />paving /construction in the Chestnut Oaks subdivision. In <br />order to proceed with the grant activities, the attached <br />Grant Agreement, Funding Approval Form, Signatory Form and <br />Certification and the Request for Release of Funds and <br />Certification must be executed by the Chair of the Board <br />and returned to the N.C. Department of Economic and <br />Community Development. Additionally, NCDOT has agreed to <br />perform the actual road construction in the Chestnut Oaks <br />subdivision. Therefore, the County must execute an <br />agreement with this agency to perform the work. This <br />$200,000 project will be funded with the $175,000 CDBG <br />grant and $25,000 included as a challenge grant by the BOCC <br />in the 1990 -91 budget for affordable housing. <br />Approval of these documents will enable the County to <br />proceed with grant activities in the month of July. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): <br />The Manager recommends the following subject to the <br />review of the County Attorney: <br />Approve execution of the Grant Agreement, Funding Approval <br />Form, Signatory Form and Certification, Request for Release <br />of Funds and Certification and the NCDOT Agreement for the <br />Chestnut Oaks Housing Development Program and authorize the <br />Chair to sign these documents on behalf of the Board. <br />Further, the Manager recommends adoption of the proposed <br />Grant Project Ordinance for this project. <br />
