RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION <br />FOR <br />RODERICK VISSER <br />WHEREAS, Roderick Visser is an orange County resident, and <br />WHEREAS, Roderick Visser is a Major in the United States Army assigned <br />to the 422nd Civil Affairs Company in Greensboro, North <br />Carolina and one of the Army reservists called up to active <br />duty during Operation Desert Storm, and <br />WHEREAS, Roderick Visser faithfully served the citizens of the United <br />States and represented his community while stationed in Saudia <br />Arabia from December 11, 1991 through May 9, 1991 and <br />WHEREAS, Roderick Visser has safely returned to his home in Orange <br />County, <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners present this Resolution of Appreciation to Roderick Visser <br />for his dedication, loyalty and bravery in representing his community <br />and serving his country during Operation Desert Storm. <br />V. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS - NONE <br />VI. PIIBLIC HEARINGS <br />A. HOUSING DEVELOPMENT GRANT APPLICATION <br />The presentation was made by Tara Fikes. In summary this item <br />was presented to receive citizen comments concerning the proposed FY1991 <br />Housing Development Grant Application and authorize submission of a <br />Letter of Intent by July 1, 1991 and the application document by July <br />31, 1991. As a result of the comments received at a public hearing held <br />on March 4, 1991, County staff has worked with Orange Congregations in <br />Mission (OCIM) to prepare an application for funds to assist them in <br />their efforts to construct a 35 unit multifamily rental development to <br />be known as Whitted Forest in the northern section of Hillsborough. Any <br />funds received would be used by OCIM for actual construction of this <br />development. Approximately $250,000 in Housing Development funds is <br />being requested in this application. A letter of endorsement was <br />entered into the record from Cathy Callemyn, President of OCIM. <br />THERE WERE NO QUESTIONS AND /OR COMMENTS FROM THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />OR FROM THE PUBLIC. <br />THE PIIBLIC HEARING WAS CLOSED <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Insko, seconded by Commissioner <br />Halkiotis, to approve the Manager's recommendation to authorize the <br />submission of a Letter of Intent by July 1, 1991 and authorize the <br />submission of the Housing Development Grant Application by July 31, <br />1991. <br />
