[:3 <br />Orange County Report <br />page 4 <br />May 15, 1991 <br />Rural Mobile Buyback <br />Program Description <br />This program does not presently exist. It will provide <br />ready markets for rural garbage haulers who pick up recyclables. <br />In addition, rural residents of the County will have opportunities <br />to recycle. The program will be run on a contract basis and the <br />contractor will be requested to accept newspaper, cardboard, office <br />paper, glass containers, plastic containers, aluminum and other <br />metals. <br />We estimate that this has potential to divert at least 200 <br />tons per year and more as the program matures. <br />Household Hazardous Waste <br />Program Description <br />This program does not presently exist. If funded, it will <br />provide opportunities for citizens of Orange County to better <br />manage their hazardous materials. The effort will include a needs <br />assessment and an effort to exchange, reuse, minimize, and divert <br />materials from that which must actually be handled by a hazardous <br />waste handler. <br />progdesc.cch <br />
