PUBLIC HEARING YES: -- NO: XX <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: PAM JONES <br />EXT 2650 <br />Telephone Number - <br />Hillsborough -732 -8181 <br />Chapel Hill - 967 -9251 <br />Mebane -227 -2031 <br />Durham - 688 -7331 <br />PURPOSE: To consider approving a fireworks permit for the Independence <br />Day Celebration to be held at Kenan Stadium, July 4, 1991. <br />BACKGROUND: Contingent upon Board of Commissioner approval, the County <br />will co- sponsor with the University and the Towns of Chapel Hill and <br />Carrboro, an Independence Day Celebration, to include a fireworks <br />display by Southern Fireworks International, Inc. <br />County representatives will participate with the University and the <br />Towns in establishing an operations plan to ensure that all safety <br />issues regarding police, fire, medical emergency and crowd control are <br />met. <br />The County, as a named insured on the insurance policies submitted by <br />the fireworks contractor, will be assured that sufficient insurance <br />polices are in farce at the time of the event. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve a fireworks permit for the Independence Day <br />Celebration at Kenan Stadium; and authorize the Chair to sign on behalf <br />of the Board. <br />
