.. _oPOSEI� z ; <br />Agreement among the University of North Carolina, the County of <br />Orange, Town of Carrboro and Town of Chapel Dill regardinq the <br />Tndependenc:e Day celebration at Kenan Stadium on July 4, 1991 <br />This agreement is entered into by and among the University of North <br />Carolina at Chapel Hill (hereinafter the University), the county <br />of orange (the County), the Town of Chapel Hill and the Town of <br />carrboro (the Towns). <br />1. Purpose of agreement <br />The parties hereto desire to set forth arrangements for public <br />fireworks displays and related activities at Kenan Stadium on the <br />evening of July 4, 1991. <br />2. Facilities <br />The University will allow use of Kenan Stadium for public <br />attendance and a stationary fireworks display in Kenan Stadium, <br />with mortar fireworks to be set off at a location within the <br />Ramshead Parking Lot in accord with fire safety laws and <br />regulations. There shall be no admission charges. <br />The University will allow public parking at no charge in designated <br />areas of the Bell Tower parking lot. <br />3. Fireworks displays: contract with pyrotechnic company <br />The Towns of Carrboro and Chapel Hill and orange County will <br />jointly hire a licensed pyrotechnic company and will require the <br />ompany to indemnify and to name as ac?ditional named insured <br />parties the University, the County and the Towns as part of the <br />company's general liability coverage for the event, <br />Each local government will pay one- third of the firaworks cost, <br />with a maximum share of $3,000. <br />4. Security/ crowd control/ traffic control/ parking <br />Representatives of the University, Towns of Chapel Hill and <br />Carrboro and Orange county will develop operation planes with the <br />University assuming lead responsibilities. The plans will include: <br />temporary closing of Ridge Road between Manning rrive and <br />Stadium Drive. <br />establishing a police line to keep the public out of the <br />mortar launching and stationary fireworks areas, and a fallout <br />area in Bhringhaus field. <br />a fire protection and safety plan for control of pyrotechnic <br />accidents. <br />RECEIVED FROM 9199678406 <br />05.29.1991 14:28 <br />--P-" 1 ._._._ <br />
