Burklin expressed concern with the lack of <br />screening. <br />Kirk responded that the Board could require a <br />75 -foot buffer which would be a Type E buffer. 5 <br />® p Discussion followed regarding allowing the use <br />p only during daylight hours. Waddell stated that <br />if the proposed driving range was in a different <br />zoning area, not residential, lighting would be <br />perfectly adequate. <br />MOTION: <br />VLSI t4 <br />MOTION: <br />VOTE: <br />MOTION: <br />VOTE: <br />Kirk continued that the ordinance requires a 200 - <br />yard wide area on the driving range, 350 yards <br />from the tee. This was taken from the Durham <br />County and Winston -Salem /Forsyth ordinances. He <br />noted that the information from the National <br />Parks and Recreation Association recommended 690 <br />feet which is 230 yards. He indicated the Board <br />could change the width requirement from 200 yards <br />to 230 yards. Jobsis asked Kirk if he felt the <br />200 yard width was sufficient and Kirk responded <br />yes. <br />Eidenier stated that her concern was with the <br />lighting and a secondary concern with increased <br />traffic. <br />Burklin moved approval of the proposed amendment <br />with the deletion of 8.8.6.2 f) which refers to <br />lighting and amend 8.8.6.2 g) to read: Service <br />shall be halted at dusk. Lighting of the drivin <br />and practice range is not permitted. Seconded by <br />Boland. <br />Unanimous. <br />c. Erosion Control Ordinance Text Amendments <br />No presentation required. A copy of the <br />amendments is an attachment to these minutes on <br />page <br />Eddleman moved approval. Seconded by Waddell. <br />Unanimous. <br />d. Proposed Historic Preservation Ordinance <br />No presentation required. <br />A copy of the abstract information is an <br />attachment to these minutes on pages <br />A copy of the ordinance is on file in the <br />Planning Department. <br />Waddell expressed concern with the rights of <br />property owners who own property within areas <br />that might become designated historic districts. <br />Burklin moved adoption of the Historic <br />Preservation Ordinance. Seconded by Eddleman. <br />4 in favor. (Cantrell left the meeting at 9:30 <br />p.m. prior to this vote.) <br />1 opposed (Waddell - concern already noted). <br />2 abstained (new members). <br />
