The project is Phase I of a multi - phased county -wide <br />survey of the county. <br />Project Description <br />Orange County is under intense development pressure, with Chapel <br />Hill Township experiencing the most intense pressure. The Coun :y's <br />land use planning program is extremely advanced, and the findings <br />of the survey will be actively integrated into the planning <br />process. <br />The purpose of the Phase I project is to identify, record, and <br />evaluate historic properties in the unincorporated portions of <br />Chapel Hill Township. It is estimated that approximately 300 <br />dwellings and 50 other types of buildings will be examined and <br />recorded through inventory forms and /or mapping. <br />Project activities will include field surveys, research, <br />compilation of files, and interpretation necessary to produce _he <br />inventory. All elements of the project must be completed in <br />accordance with standards set forth by the State Historic <br />Preservation Office, Division of Archives and history, N.C. <br />Department of Cultural Resources. Copies of all documentation and <br />photographs provided to the State Historic Preservation Office will <br />be provided to Orange County. During the course of the project, the <br />consultant will make at least two public presentations with the <br />assistance of the Project Coordinator. <br />project Schedule <br />The project will take approximately four months to complete. A <br />preliminary starting date of mid -July, 1991 is desired. All work <br />must be completed by September 30, 1992. <br />Project Budget <br />The total project budget is $15,000, funded by $10,000 from Orange <br />County and a $5,000 Survey & Planning Grant. The County's total <br />share includes $5,000 of in -kind services and materials. The total <br />
