Purpose: <br />This is Phase I of a multiphased county -wide survey of Orange County. <br />Orange County is under intense development pressures, with the Chapel Hill <br />township perhaps the most intense. The county's land use planning program <br />is extremely advanced, and the findings of the survey will be actively <br />integrated into the planning process. The purpose of the Phase I project <br />is to identify, record, and evaluate historic properties in the Chapel <br />Hill township, according to the Secretary's standards for identification <br />and evaluation and to integrate these into the county's land use plan. <br />The Principal Investigator and project coordinator will meet qualifications <br />of 36 CFR 61. <br />Products: It is estimated that approximately 300 dwellings and 50 other <br />types of buildings will be examined and recorded through inventory forms <br />and /or mapping, according to state and federal standards. Photographs, <br />oral history, documentation, and other materials will be included in the <br />resulting files. <br />
