PUBLIC HEARING YES: NO:XX <br />----------------------- <br />ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: PAM JONES <br />EXT 2650 <br />PLANNING PROCESS /AUGUST, 1989 Telephone Number- <br />Hillsborough -732 -8181 <br />Chapel Hill -967 -9251 <br />Mebane -227 -2031 <br />Durham - 688 -7331 <br />PURPOSE: To review and reaffirm the planning process for the Southern <br />Human Services Center, established by the Board of Commissioners in <br />August, 1989. <br />BACKGROUND: In August, 1989 the Commissioners endorsed a planning <br />process for the Government Services Building and the Southern Human <br />Services Building. The process is basically complete for the <br />Government Services Building which is scheduled for bid June 6, 1991. <br />Upon authorization from the Board of Commissioners to complete the land <br />acquisition process for the Southern Human Services Building, we will <br />be in a position to solicit Requests for Proposal for architectural <br />services. In accordance with the August, 1989 planning process, the <br />Planning Committee should be formed in order to address their first <br />task; interviewing design firms and making a recommendation to the <br />Commissioners. <br />As you may recall, there are three primary charges given to the <br />Planning Committee: <br />1 Interview and recommend the Architect to the Board of <br />Commissioners; <br />2. Review and recommend a final schematic design to the <br />Board; and <br />3. Review and comment on design (interior) drawings. <br />
