10 <br />Ongoing The Teen Alternative Task Force assisted area teens in <br />developing their own Teen Club, and making their own rules <br />and regulations for the club. The Teen Club initiated and <br />is continuing to sponsor regular teen dances. The Task <br />Force also initiated a radio station which is continuing <br />at Orange High School. <br />Ongoing County 4 -H is implementing the Teen Alternative Task <br />Force's recommendations for a community drama group, and a <br />teen volunteer center.. 4 -H will continue to offer <br />technical assistance for the volunteer center through the <br />summer of 1991. <br />ongoing The Chapel Hill Teen Center has a Teen Board which makes <br />decisions about the entertainment activities and <br />educational programs, and coordinates the Explorer Post <br />co- sponsored by the Center. <br />ongoing In spring 1990, the Chapel Hill Teen Center and the North <br />Carolina Coalition Against Racist and Religious Violence <br />initiated co- sponsorship of a state -wide Teen Council <br />which meets quarterly. <br />5.Establishing a teen center in central /northern Orange <br />County. <br />6.Encourage commercial development that provides services to <br />youth, such as movie theaters and game rooms. <br />Completed There are numerous movie theaters and game rooms in <br />southern Orange. <br />Future Churton Street Market, the new shopping center planned for <br />Hillsborough, is projected to have a movie theater. <br />7.Continue to educate parents about teens and teens about <br />parents. <br />Completed Over 150 people attended the November 1989 Bridging the <br />Gap Conference, a day -long educational workshop dealing <br />with adolescent issues, decision- making and problem - <br />solving sponsored by 17 public and non - profit agencies. <br />Completed County Recreation and Parks offered two seven -week <br />workshops in fall 1990 on "How to Talk So Kids Will Listen <br />and Listen So Kids Will Talk ". <br />Page 10 <br />
