Halkiods 968 -4501 <br />Verla C. lnsko 6B8 -7331 <br />Don NVillhoit 227 -2031 <br />644 -3004 (Fax) <br />May 6, 1991 <br />Mr. Mike Gaddis, Director <br />Workforce Resources Division <br />Office of State Personnel <br />116 West Jones Street <br />Raleigh, north Carolina 27603 -8004 <br />RE: Orange County Substantial Equivalency Exemption, <br />For Classification And Compensation <br />Dear Mr. Gaddis: <br />At its May 6, 1991 meeting, the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners adopted the Statement of Intent shown below. <br />1 <br />Statement of Intent <br />It is the intent of the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners to apply the same classification <br />and pay system in Health and Social Services <br />Departments as has been applied in other County <br />departments through the Phase I Classification' <br />and Pay Study conducted by Municipal Advisors, <br />(MAI). It is the Board's intent to implement <br />such classification and pay system upon completion <br />and adoption of the Phase II Classification and Pay <br />Study now being conducted by MAI. The targeted <br />effective date toward which the County is working <br />is July 8, 1991. <br />It is our understanding that with the adoption of the <br />above Statement of Intent, the Office of State Personnel will <br />recommend to the State Personnel Commission at its June 6, <br />1991 meeting that the Commission approve Orange County's <br />substantial equivalency exemption as to classification and <br />compensation. <br />We thank you and your staff for working with us to <br />achieve a substantially equivalent personnel system in Orange <br />County. <br />YOU COUNT IN ORANGE COUNTY! 6) <br />
