There is also a greater rate of disease in non - whites <br />compared to whites of both sexes. <br />Community Opinion Survey <br />A community opinion survey completed by 115 Orange County residents (51% of <br />residents were non - white, 69% of residents were female) identified these <br />services which they felt the health department should provide: blood <br />pressure checks 86 %, blood sugar checks 73 %, cholesterol tests 70 %, health <br />education classes 53 %, nutrition counseling 53 %. Reasons identified for <br />not taking care of health problems: costs 51 %, individual does not <br />recognize the problem 43 %, lack of transportation 41 %, individual chooses <br />not to seek help 34 %, individual doesn't know about services 33 %. Sixty <br />percent reported utilizing health department services. <br />2.
