BACKGROUND: Reference General Statute 105- 322(e) Each year the Board of Equalization and Review shall hold its first meeting not earlier than the first Monday in April and not later than the first Monday in May. The Board shall complete its duties on or before the third Monday following its first meeting unless, in its opinion, a longer period of time is necessary or expedient to a proper execution of its responsibilities. A notice of the date, hours, place, and purpose of the first meeting of the Board of Equalization and Review shall be Published at least three times in some newspaper having general circulation in the county, the first publication to be at least 10 days prior to the first meeting. RECOMMENDATION: 1). The Board convene the first Monday in May (May 6, 1991), a few minutes just before the County Commissiiones meeting, for the purpose of taking the oaths and establishing a schedule to hear appeals. 2) It is estimated that approximately two (2) hours will be needed to hear requested appeals. Possibly, it would be conveninet to meet two hours just prior to a scheduled commissioners meeting, either the 3rd Tuesday in May (May 21st) or the 1st Monday in June (Jun 3rd).
